Lisa Diaz, LICSW

Mental Health Clinician

Lisa is a proud Boricua, born and raised in the diaspora. Her identity as the daughter of parents who emigrated from Borikén (presently known as Puerto Rico) has significantly shaped her world-view and continues to fuel her passion for social justice, activism, and the healing of those of the global majority.

Lisa utilizes EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in her clinical practice. Lisa’s therapeutic approach is anchored in the understanding that emotional distress manifests both mentally and within our bodies (somatically), therefore healing needs to include the body. Lisa’s hope for you is that through therapy you will learn to befriend your body, trust your body’s wisdom and nourish and honor your body in gratitude.

When working with Lisa you should expect an ongoing process of unlearning and learning, collaboration, and feeling supported through safety, stability, and connection as you navigate the heavy matters that arise in life. With this support you will be better prepared to get close to those painful memories that you want to reprocess, allowing for your body’s natural healing process to begin.

Outside of therapy sessions, Lisa is spending time with her family, reading, daydreaming, enjoying naps, Salsa dancing, and tending to her many plants.
